Babits Mihály műfordítói ösztöndíj (2023) nyertes pályázatai

A Petőfi Irodalmi Múzeum (PIM) pályázatot hirdetett fiatal műfordítók részére, akik szépirodalmi (próza, líra, dráma, kísérleti irodalom) művek bármely idegen nyelvről magyar nyelvre történő műfordításához kérnek támogatást a Babits Mihály műfordítói ösztöndíj elnyerésével. A pályáztatás teljes körű lebonyolításában a PIM felkérésére a Petőfi Ügynökség Nonprofit Zrt. (PKÜ) Irodalomszakmai Igazgatósága vesz részt.

A 2023-ban rendelkezésre álló keretösszeg: 9,6 M Ft, amelyből a kuratórium tetszőleges számú ösztöndíjast támogathatott, legfeljebb 6 hónapos időtartamra, havi bruttó 200.000 Ft összeggel.

A pályázatot a PIM és a PKÜ által működtetett szakértői kuratórium bírálta el, tagjai: 

• Csender Levente (Magyar Művészeti Akadémia);
• Kollár Árpád (Magyar Irodalmi Szerzői Jogvédő és Jogkezelő Egyesület)
• Lakatos Mihály (Kulturális és Innovációs Minisztérium);
• Sohár Anikó (Magyar Műfordítók Egyesülete);
• Tótfalusi Ágnes (Szépírók Társasága);
• Turczi István (Magyar PEN CLUB);
• és Pál Dániel Levente, a kuratórium elnöke (Petőfi Ügynökség Nonprofit Zrt.).

A kuratóriumi ülés elején a részvevők megállapodtak a legfontosabb értékelési szempontokban, melyek: a fordítási minta minősége, az értelmezés pontossága, a nyelvi koherencia, a nyelvtani korrektség, a szerző és mű aktualitása és érdekessége a magyar művelődés számára, valamint a műfordító szakmai beágyazottsága.

A 2023. április 15-i határidőre beérkezett és értékelendő 33 darab pályázat általános értékelése után többfordulós, érvekkel egyeztetett módon alakult ki az alábbi, végső sorrend, mely alapján a kuratórium 15 pályázó között 9,6 M forintot osztott szét.

Winner applications for the Babits Mihály literary translation grant (2023)

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide assistance to talented young individuals in starting their careers, creating favorable conditions for high-quality literary translation activities.

The Petőfi Literary Museum (PIM) has announced a competition for young literary translators who seek support for the translation of literary (prose, poetry, drama, experimental literature) works from any foreign language to Hungarian through the acquisition of the Babits Mihály translation grant. The comprehensive administration of the competition is undertaken by the Literary Directorate of the Petőfi Literary Fund Nonprofit Ltd. (PLF) upon the invitation of PIM.

The available budget for 2023 is 9.6 million HUF, from which the committee could support any number of scholarship recipients for a maximum duration of 6 months, with a gross monthly amount of 200,000 HUF.

The applications were evaluated by an expert committee operated by PIM and PLF with the following members:

• Anikó Sohár (Association of Literary Translators);
• Ágnes Tótfalusi (Society of Fiction Writers);
• Árpád Kollár (Hungarian Literary Authors’ Collecting Society)
• István Turczi (Hungarian PEN CLUB);
• Levente Csender (Hungarian Academy of Arts);
• Mihály Lakatos (Ministry of Culture and Innovation);
• and chairman of the committee Dániel Levente Pál (Petőfi Literary Fund Nonprofit Ltd.).
  
  

At the beginning of the committee meeting, the participants agreed on the key evaluation criteria, which include: quality of the translation sample, accuracy of interpretation, linguistic coherence, grammatical correctness, relevance and interest of the author and work to Hungarian culture, as well as the professional involvement of the literary translator.

After the general evaluation of the 33 applications received by the deadline of April 15, 2023, a multi-round, argument-based process led to the following final ranking, based on which the committee allocated 9.6 million forints among 15 applicants.
