Hungarian poets at the 5th Patras World Poetry Festival
Three talented poets, namely Zita Izsó, Tibor Wiener Sennyey and Timur Bék represented Hungary and the recent Anthology of Young Hungarian Poets in the 5th Patras World Poetry Festival.
The Patras World Poetry Festival that was held between 1-4 of September in Patras, Greece, was delighted to finally be able to organize an offline, personal event after two years of online events. The Festival invited 65 poets from 13 different countries to the occasion that is entitled From Hippokrates to Poetry Therapy.
The participants spent their mornings and evenings with reading poetry, recitations and performances at such poetic sites of Patras as Epikentro Theatre, the Villa of Kolla and also in the Ancient Olympia.
As a side event of the Festival, the Embassy of Hungary organised a literary evening at Enastron Book Cafe, on the 5th of September, where the Anthology was presented the the participation of the above mentioned Hungarian poets.
“From this collection of poetry people can find out more about us than from the news, from a last minute holiday or how they judge us based on our football. Now Greek readers can do something for us, Hungarian poets. You can take our poems to the seaside and read them to the sea while we will read your Greek poems in our forests.” Tibor Weiner Sennyey cited the forward of the book, written by himself.
