Bologna Children's Book Fair

During the book fair, which took place from March 6th to 9th 2023, all Hungarian publishers, authors, illustrators as well as books translated into foreign languages were presented at our stand. The stand had a distinctive and unique design that attracted the attention of visitors.

Thanks to the unified appearance and the collaborative effort among everyone involved, Hungarian authors are becoming increasingly successful abroad, winning prestigious awards and reaching the finals of competitions. This year's fair featured the work "Otthon" (Home) by Kinga Rofusz (https://www.bolognachildrensbookfair.com/en/awards/braw-crossmedia-the-2023-winners/12557.html) and illustrator Julianna Litkei (https://dpictus.com/), among others. The traveling Hungarian children's book publishers conducted nearly fifty successful negotiations and rights sales during the few days of the fair.

The PLF stand covering 15 m² showcased the visual world of Kinga Rofusz, Julianna Litkei and the typographic designs of the "Best of" series published by the Petőfi Literary Fund. The stand was located in the central part of Hall 30 dedicated to country stands, right next to the Rights Centre where book rights were sold, Authors' Café and Translators' Café.

During the event, an animated short film based on the illustrated children's book "Otthon" (Home) by Kinga Rofusz, which was honored with the BolognaRagazzi Crossmedia Award, was presented.

The official opening of PLF stand took place in an informal conversation. The event attracted numerous potential professional partners and interested visitors to the PLF stand.

During the event, attendees had the opportunity to learn about the publication support programs of Petőfi Literary Fund. Furthermore, the publishers' representatives presented remarkable works of contemporary Hungarian children's literature.

As the Bologna Children's Book Fair is the world's largest professional fair dedicated to children's books, the PLF delegation paid special attention to maintaining contacts with international partners and introducing themselves to new potential partners.

The representatives of the Literary Directorate participated in several meetings with representatives of ENLIT. ENLIT is an organization bringing together European publishing support organizations, of which PLF is a member. Accordingly, PLF intends to play a more active role in the organization's work in the future. In addition, they successfully established contact with numerous professional partners.

Two newly published catalogs promoted Hungarian children's literature at the event. As part of the "Best of" series, two new volumes were released specifically for the Bologna event: "New Hungarian Childlit - 10.3 Tales" edited by Gabriella Both, Margit Garajszki and Artemisz Harmath, recommended the best children's books of recent years to foreign book professionals, while "New Hungarian Artists - 12 Illustrators" edited by Emese Révész showcased the best Hungarian illustrators to an international audience.

Bolognai Gyermekkönyvvásár

A Bolognai Gyermekkönyvvásár, azaz a Bologna Children's Book Fair idén 60. alkalommal került megrendezésre, melyen a Petőfi Kulturális Ügynökség a magyar irodalom egészét bemutató standdal képviselte hazánkat.

A 2023. március 6-9. között megvalósuló könyvvásáron standunkon valamennyi magyar kiadó, szerző, illusztrátor, illetve az idegen nyelvre lefordított könyvek is bemutatásra kerültek. A stand igazán feltűnő és egyedi grafikát kapott, mely vonzotta az érdeklődőket.

Az egységes megjelenés és az egymás munkáját segítő összefogás eredménye, hogy a magyar szerzők egyre sikeresebbek külföldön, rangos díjakat hoznak el, versenyek döntőibe jutnak, ahogy a mostani vásáron is Rofusz Kinga Otthon című műve (https://www.bolognachildrensbookfair.com/en/awards/braw-crossmedia-the-2023-winners/12557.html), vagy Litkei Julianna illusztrátor (https://dpictus.com/). Majdnem félszáz sikeres tárgyalást és jogeladást sikerült lefolytatnia a kiutazó magyar gyerekkönyvkiadóknak a vásár néhány napja alatt.

A főleg Rofusz Kinga és Litkei Julianna vizuális világát, valamint a PKÜ által kiadott „Best of” sorozat tipográfiai játékait bemutató 15 négyzetméteres PKÜ-stand az országstandoknak szentelt 30-as csarnok központi részén helyezkedett el, közvetlenül a vásár könyvkiadási jogok eladásával foglalkozó központja (Rights Centre), valamint az írói és fordítói kávéházak (Authors’ Café, Translators’ Café) mellett.

Az eseményen bemutatásra került a BolognaRagazzi Crossmedia díjával kitüntetett, Rofusz Kinga Otthon című illusztrált mesekönyve alapján készült animációs kisfilm.

2023.03.06. 16:00-18:00 A magyar stand megnyitója

A PKÜ standjának hivatalos megnyitójára kötetlen beszélgetés keretében került sor. Az esemény számos potenciális szakmai partnert és érdeklődőt bevonzott a PKÜ standjára.

Az eseményen az érdeklődők megismerhették a Petőfi Kulturális Ügynökség kiadástámogatási programjait, valamint a kiadók képviselői bemutatták számukra a kortárs magyar gyermekirodalom figyelemreméltó műveit.

Mivel a Bolognai Gyermekkönyvvásár a világ legnagyobb, gyermekkönyvekkel foglalkozó szakmai vására, a PKÜ delegációja kiemelt figyelmet fordított a nemzetközi partnerekkel való kapcsolattartásra, valamint az új, potenciális partnereknek való bemutatkozásra is.

Az Irodalomszakmai Igazgatóság kiutazó képviselői több tárgyaláson is részt vettek az európai kiadástámogató szervezeteket tömörítő ENLIT képviselőivel, melynek a PKÜ is tagja, ennek megfelelően a jövőben aktívabban részt kíván vállalni a szervezet munkájában. Ezen felül számos szakmai partnerrel sikerült felvenni a kapcsolatot.

A hazai gyerekirodalmat két újonnan kiadott katalógus is népszerűsítette a helyszínen.  A „Best of” sorozat részeként, a bolgonai eseményre, két új kötet is megjelent: a Both Gabriella, Garajszki Margit és Harmath Artemisz szerkesztette New Hungarian Childlit – 10.3 Tales az elmúlt évek legjobb gyerekkönyveit ajánlja a külföldi könyves szakemberek számára, valamint a Révész Emese által szerkesztett New Hungarian Artists – 12 Illustrators a legjobb magyar illusztrátorokat vitte külföldre.
