Dóra Bakucz held a translation workshop for students in Madrid

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Sándor Petőfi's birth, Hungarian students at the Complutense University in Madrid had the opportunity to participate in a one-week translation workshop with the support of the Petőfi Literary Fund and the Hungarian Embassy. The aim of the translation was to publish a groundbreaking Hungarian-Spanish anthology at the end of 2023 featuring selected works by our brilliant poet, with a special focus on lesser-known poems. The workshop began with an introductory lecture where Dóra Bakucz discussed Petőfi's presence in contemporary Hungarian culture and literature. She outlined the methodology of collective translation, the difficulties that arise during verse translation, and briefly introduced the main differences between Hungarian and Spanish poetic traditions and metrics.

Following that, five days of workshop sessions took place. Over the course of five days, the students worked on Petőfi's texts, completing the translation of a total of thirteen poems. The project and the translations were presented at the European Pavilion of the Madrid Book Fair, specifically in the Pabellón Europa, on the afternoon of June 10th. They depicted the progress of their work, discussed the difficulties they encountered, and the attendees had the opportunity to listen to readings of the finished translations. There was also an expressed desire to continue the workshop. The Hungarian lecturer at the Complutense University in Madrid Gergő Tóth served as moderator for the event.

The entire day was dedicated to Hungarian culture. The morning began with a screening of Jankovics Marcell's iconic animated feature film based on Sándor Petőfi's work titled "János vitéz." In the afternoon, an engaging discussion took place with the involvement of two expert psychologists, María Ángeles Santos and Inés Sanz Ocaña, focusing on the works of Éva Janikovszky and the role of fairy tales in child development. The evening concluded with the presentation of Péter Gyuricza's book, "Visszidensek" (Returnees), where the author and two "returnees," Katalin Kossuth and Gábor Gyuricza, shared their touching and thought-provoking stories in person.

Bakucz Dóra diákoknak tartott fordítóműhelyt Madridban

A műfordító Bakucz Dóra, a Retiro Parkban szervezett 82. Madridi Könyvvásár keretében, 2023. június 5-től 10-ig a Complutense Egyetem Magyar lektorátusán tartott fordítói műhelyt Tóth Gergő magyar lektor és öt spanyol hallgató részvételével.

Petőfi Sándor születésének 200. évfordulója alkalmából, a Madridi Complutense Egyetem magyar diákjai, egyhetes fordítóműhelyen vehettek részt a Petőfi Kulturális Ügynökség és a Magyar Nagykövetség támogatásával. A fordítás célja, egy hiánypótló, magyar-spanyol nyelvű antológia kiadása 2023. év végén, zseniális költőnk válogatott műveiből, kiemelten a kevésbé ismert költeményeket. A műhelymunka bevezető előadással kezdődött, Bakucz Dóra arról beszélt a résztvevőknek, hogyan van jelen Petőfi a mai magyar kultúrában, irodalomban, illetve felvázolta a kollektív fordítás módszertanát, a versfordítás során felmerülő nehézségeket, továbbá röviden bemutatta a magyar és a spanyol költői hagyomány, metrika közötti főbb különbségeket.

Ezután öt nap műhelymunka következett. Öt napon keresztül dolgoztak a diákok Petőfi szövegekkel, összesen tizenhárom költemény fordítása készült el. A projekt és a fordítások a Madridi Könyvvásár Európa Pavilonjában, azaz a Pabellón Europában mutatkoztak be június 10-én délután. Ábrázolták a munka menetét, a meséltek a felmerült nehézségekről, majd az érdeklődők felolvasásokat hallhattak az elkészült fordításokból és felmerült a műhelymunka folytatásának igénye is. Az esemény moderátora Tóth Gergő a Madridi Complutense Egyetem magyar lektora volt.

A nap egésze a magyar kultúráról szólt.  A délelőtt Petőfi Sándor János vitéz című alkotását feldolgozó Jankovics Marcell ikonikus animációs játékfilmjével indultalkotásával, délután pedig két pszichológus szakértő, - María Ángeles Santos és Inés Sanz Ocaña - bevonásával izgalmas beszélgetést hallhattak az érdeklődők Janikovszky Éva műveiről és a mesék gyermeki fejlődésben betöltött szerepéről. Az est Gyuricza Péter  "Visszidensek" című könyvének bemutatójával zárult, ahol a szerző mellett két "visszidens", Kossuth Katalin és Gyuricza Gábor is jelen voltak, akik személyesen számoltak be megható és elgondolkodtató történetükről.
